Les Thermes – Intervention by Andrea Jäggi-Staudacher
Les Thermes is a large wooden pool with 25,000 plastic balls that invites you to take a moral bath in Stoic philosophy. You can either enjoy a free swim in the pool or visit one of the interventions in which various guests apply Stoic principles to the themes of the festival and provide further food for thought and discussion.
Andrea Jäggi-Staudacher is a Swiss design researcher and mortician whose work focuses on the atmospheres created in funerary spaces. She aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of how the design of spaces can influence the way death and mourning are experienced. Design work on the corpse also plays a central role in this process. On May 14, Andrea Jäggi-Staudacher will read from thanatological practice manuals and provide specific instructions on how to appropriately «design» the deceased. Meanwhile, visitors are invited to record notes, sketches and thoughts on paper and become part of Jäggi's experimental research work.
